Founded in 1890, the "Kahlbaum Laboratory Preparations" factory has grown into a successful pharmaceutical company over the years. The headquarters remain in Berlin-Adlershof to this day. Additional locations include Berlin-Britz as a second production site and our logistics center in Großbeeren.
Since 1992, Berlin-Chemie has been a part of the Menarini Group. This leading private pharmaceutical and diagnostics company, headquartered in Florence, is the largest of its kind in Italy and employs around 17,000 people. With over 135 years of history and expertise, Menarini ensures internationally recognized pharmaceutical quality.
Berlin-Chemie is the largest production site of the Menarini Group. Its sister company, A. Menarini Research & Business Service GmbH, also known as Menarini GmbH, provides a range of services in research, finance, IT, supply chain management, facility management, and engineering for Berlin-Chemie and other companies within the Menarini Group. Over 5,000 employees are working in more than 30 countries across Central and Eastern Europe as well as Central Asia. In our Berlin office, we're not just focused on the German market; we also collaborate closely with country teams in areas like marketing, business development, regulatory affairs, and export.
Berlin is one of five global research locations for the Menarini Group, along with Italy, New York, Barcelona, and Singapore. Here, the focus is on the galenic development of both oncological and non-oncological drug formulations, the chemical and analytical development of new active ingredients, and clinical testing.
Our product portfolio includes over 80 products across 13 therapeutic areas, including cardiovascular, antidiabetic, and respiratory treatments. At our modern production facilities, we manufacture solid, liquid, and semi-solid pharmaceutical forms, totaling over 200 million packages of finished pharmaceuticals annually. In 2024, we achieved a revenue of approximately 1.5 billion euros.

Embracing Inclusion
